PERSONAL: Antonio Manuel Diaz...has two children: daughter, Gabriela (5/7/02) and son, Anthony (1/11/05)...Athlete of the Year at Gulf Coast Community College in 1995, hitting .349 with six home runs with 26 stolen bases, and was named the Athlete of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year...graduated from Florida International University in 1999 with a bachelor's degree in marketing...was awarded the Excellence Award in 1998 while at Florida International...authored the manual Practical English for Latin Players to help Latin baseball players diminish their language barrier... enjoys reading leadership books, watching motivational videos, and doing baseball clinics for young children...was recruited to play professional baseball by the late Don Odermann, who was the founder of the Latin Athletes Education Fund...played at the Gulf Coast Community College for Darren Mazeroski, son of Pirates Hall of Famer Bill Mazeroski. 

COACHING CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: 2019 marks his first season as a coach for the Twins...enters his 20th season as a coach at some capacity at the professional level... also assists Baldelli in infield instruction...spent two seasons as Colorado's first base coach (2017-18)...managed the Salt River Rafters in the Arizona Fall League in 2016 (15-15)...managed seven seasons in Colorado's organization, five seasons for Rookie- Level Casper (2007-11) and one with Rookie-Level Grand Junction (2012)...compiled a record of 193-257, including a record of 43-33 (.566) in 2012...guided the Grand Junction Rockies to a 43-33 record in his first season in Grand Junction in 2012, and was inducted into the Pioneer League Hall of Fame the following year...prior to becoming a manager, spent six seasons as the hitting coach for Casper (2001-06)...named Colorado's Player Development "Man of the Year" in 2002...began his minor league coaching career as the hitting coach for the Tucson Rockies in the Arizona Rookie League in 2000...prior to coaching in the minor leagues, was the assistant coach at both Columbus (1999) and Braddock (1998) High Schools in South Florida...assisted in the Rockies Dominican Instructional League every season with Colorado's organization...served as the third base coach and bench coach for Gigantes del Cibao in the Dominican Winter League during the 2015-16 season and as the third base coach for the Toros del Este of the Dominican Winter League during the 2012-13 season. 

PLAYING CAREER: Played shortstop for one season before suffering a career-ending shoulder injury in 1996...selected by California in the 46th round of the 1995 First-Year Player Draft; signed by scout Tom Kotchman.
