"I think that's great that we have two players because the most you can have as an organization is two," said Jim Rantz, the Twins' director of Minor Leagues. "That doesn't surprise me that both of these guys got selected because they are having those kinds of years."
The Twins' Minor League Player of the Year for the past two seasons, Revere has been putting up solid numbers again this year. Revere, 22, is batting .307 for Double-A New Britain with eight doubles, one triple, one home run and 17 RBIs.
"That whole club at Double-A struggled, including him, at the start of the year, but he kind of made a few adjustments and started to get some hits," Rantz said. "Those good hitters, you can't keep them down too long, and before you knew it, he snuck up on .300 and he's been there ever since. He sprays the ball around. He's a good contact guy and he's got good speed."
Revere, the Twins' first-round selection in the 2007 First-Year Player Draft, is once again leading the Twins organization in steals (21). He's been playing all three outfield positions, although primarily center field, and has continued to be a productive top of the order hitter with a .385 on-base percentage.
Hendriks, 21, was promoted to Class A Advanced Fort Myers, after going 4-2 with a 1.42 ERA in eight starts for Class A Beloit. The right-hander has impressed the organization with his command. He's issued nine walks in 84 2/3 innings this season while striking out 83, and he's held opposing hitters to a .196 batting average. Since joining Fort Myers, Hendriks is 2-1 with a 1.32 ERA in six starts.
"Obviously, he dominated in Beloit, and what makes him so effective is that he's a strike thrower," Rantz said. "He pitches ahead, and he's got good stuff. He'll touch 91, maybe 92 mph, and because he has such good command he gets you on and off the field in a hurry."
