Cuddyer slated for Grapefruit debut vs. O's

BRADENTON, Fla. -- Twins outfielder Michael Cuddyer is expected to make his Grapefruit League debut Wednesday night against the Orioles at Hammond Stadium.

Cuddyer, bothered by a sore left foot after having a wart removed on March 1, was scheduled to play in his second straight Minor League intrasquad game on Monday after going 2-for-4 with a home run and a double in his first Minor League action Sunday morning.

With Cuddyer expected to start Wednesday, the Twins could field a lineup close to their projected Opening Day version, as Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau are also scheduled to play against the Orioles. Mauer, recovering from offseason surgery on his left knee, went 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI on Monday against the Pirates in Bradenton, while Morneau served as a designated hitter in a Minor League game.

"The goal is to get everybody out on the field and we're getting close," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. "We're getting the ball rolling along pretty good. Now we're just trying to get everyone some at-bats and try to get their legs underneath them."
