Twins announce 2017 Spanish language broadcast schedule

The Minnesota Twins today announced their Spanish language radio broadcast schedule for the 2017 season. The La Raza radio group will broadcast a total of 50 games throughout the 2017 season. Those games can be heard on 1400AM and 1470AM as well as La Raza's new signal 95.7 FM. Broadcasts will include Opening Day (April 3rd at 3:10 p.m. at Target Field against the Kansas City Royals), Diversity Day (August 3rd at 7:10pm at Target Field against the Texas Rangers), most Sunday and Tuesday games throughout the season and the Twins final game of the regular season (October 1st vs. Detroit).
"It is La Raza's second year broadcasting the Twins games in Spanish and there has been a tremendous response from the Latino community from our partnership," said President and CEO of Santamaria Broadcasting Maya Santamaria. "Furthermore, Santamaria Broadcasting is thrilled to be transmitting this series of Twins Games in Spanish on our newly-acquired FM station, 95.7 FM. This new signal allows us to provide even better quality Spanish broadcasting for the Twins this year."
La Raza 1400 AM/1470 AM was founded in 2005 by Santamaria Broadcasting and is the only Latino owned and managed radio station in Minnesota. The Upper Midwest is the 16th most important Latino Radio market in the nation and together the two stations encompass 30 miles around the Twin Cities and into northern areas. The two simulcast Spanish-Language stations reach over 200,000 members of the Minnesota Hispanic community 24 hours a day and seven days a week. Their mission is to empower and unite the Latino community through its community-oriented music, entertainment and informative programming.
The Twins, who were the first professional sports team in the Twin Cities market to broadcast their games in Spanish, return Twins Hall of Famer and color analyst Tony Oliva, and play-by-play announcer Alfonso Fernandez, to the broadcast booth for their 12th season together. All 50 games will include a 15 minute pre and post-game show. In addition, these broadcasts will be transmitted via SAP (secondary audio program) on the Twins television partner Fox Sports North.
Highlights of the Spanish broadcast schedule include several games against the A.L. Champion Cleveland Indians (April 18, May 14, June 18, June 25, August 15 and September 26) for six games, four games on Holidays (April 16 - Easter, May 29 - Memorial Day, July 4 - Independence Day, September 4 - Labor Day) and three games against West Coast National League opponents (LA Dodgers - June 4 & July 25, San Francisco Giants - June 11, San Diego Padres - August 1 & September 12 and Arizona Diamondbacks - August 20).
