Maloney clears waivers, headed to Rochester
MINNEAPOLIS -- Reliever Matt Maloney cleared waivers and was assigned to Triple-A Rochester, the club announced Saturday.

Maloney, 28, posted an 8.18 ERA in nine appearances with the Twins. The left-hander struck out five, walked one and allowed two homers in 11 innings.

Maloney was designated for assignment on Wednesday to make room for Saturday's starter, P.J. Walters.

Maloney was originally acquired by the Twins on Oct. 31, when he was claimed off waivers from the Reds.
