DETROIT -- Twins shortstop Nick Punto was a late scratch for Saturday's game against the Tigers due to a left finger injury.
Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said the injury involved the knuckle on Punto's ring finger, and he likely will not play again until after the All-Star break.
"Right now he couldn't even play catch," Gardenhire said. "He thought [he] might be able to play defense, but it's pretty sore. We'll try to stay away from him tomorrow, and hopefully he'll be back right after the break."
With Punto out, Brendan Harris shifted from third base to shortstop and Brian Buscher got the nod at third Saturday.
Punto appeared to sustain the injury during his final at-bat in the eighth inning Friday night. He grimaced while taking a swing in the at-bat, and he's now listed as day-to-day.
