ARLINGTON -- After seeing three pitches from Texas reliever Tanner Scheppers in the seventh inning, home-plate umpire Marty Foster left Saturday's game between the Rangers and Twins with an illness.
Trevor Plouffe, leading off the seventh for the Twins, faced a 1-2 count from Scheppers before Foster took off his mask and visited with Rangers team trainer Jamie Reed. With the game tied, 3-3, Foster left the game and was replaced by second-base umpire and crew chief Jeff Kellogg behind the plate.
Chris Conroy and Eric Cooper stayed on as the first-base and third-base umpires, respectively, in a game the Rangers won, 4-3, in 10 innings.
