Twins get good news after Pavano's first rehab start
CLEVELAND -- Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said he received positive reports on Wednesday about right-hander Carl Pavano's first rehab outing with Class A Fort Myers on Tuesday night.

Pavano, who has been on the disabled list since June 4 with right rotator cuff weakness, tossed two innings against Jupiter. He gave up one run on two hits while striking out one.

"Everything went fine," Gardenhire said. "He felt good and his arm felt great. His velocity was about 85-87 mph, somewhere in there. I'm sure the big thing for him was getting on the mound and throwing the ball, and he did that."

Pavano, who threw about 20 pitches according to Gardenhire, will continue to build up his pitch count with a few more rehab starts with Fort Myers.
