The Twins have re-signed second baseman James Beresford to a Minor League deal that includes his first invite to Major League Spring Training.
Beresford, who turns 24 in January, bats left-handed and hit .266 with a .330 on-base percentage and a .314 slugging percentage in 369 at-bats at Double-A New Britain last season. He had 15 extra-base hits, none of them home runs.
Beresford, who was signed by the Twins out of Australia in 2005, closed out the 2012 season on a high note, going 7-for-9 in the final two games. He played well for Team Australia in the 2009 World Baseball Classic, hitting .444 (4-for-9) with four RBIs in three games.
