Twins Place De Vries on Disabled List

The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed right-handed pitcher Cole De Vries on the 15-day disabled list with a right forearm strain (retroactive to March 30).  De Vries made seven appearances (four starts) for the Twins in spring training, going 3-0 with a 0.53 ERA (17.0 IP, 1 ER).

To replace De Vries on the 25-man roster, the Twins have recalled left-handed pitcher Pedro Hernandez.  The 23-year-old appeared in six games for the Twins in spring training, tossing 11.0 scoreless innings with one walk allowed and six strikeouts.  He was originally acquired from Chicago-AL along with infielder Eduardo Escobar in exchange for Francisco Liriano on July 28, 2012.

Additionally, the Twins have reinstated right-handed pitcher Anthony Swarzak from the 15-day disabled list.  He was placed on the DL March 22, with left side rib fractures, an injury he suffered over the winter.
