MINNEAPOLIS -- Twins starters have struggled so far this year with a 5.15 ERA, but the bullpen has been able to pick them up with a 2.37 ERA.
That 2.37 ERA ranks as the sixth-best mark in the Majors, as relievers Glen Perkins, Josh Roenicke, Jared Burton, Brian Duensing, Ryan Pressly and Anthony Swarzak all have ERAs under 3.00.
Twins manager Ron Gardenhire isn't surprised, however, as he felt the bullpen would be a strong suit heading into the season.
"Our bullpen has been great," Gardenhire said. "We've mixed and matched. But we feel comfortable with any of them in any situation right now getting up to the eighth and ninth inning. We're able to call on just about any of them to get big outs."
