Arcia called up after Hicks placed on disabled list

Aaron Hicks had finally appeared to hit his stride, flashing some power in late May before hitting .280 this month, but a strained left hamstring has forced him to the 15-day disabled list.

On Monday, the Twins recalled Oswaldo Arcia from Triple-Rochester. Arcia hit .255 with four homers in 30 games with the Twins earlier this year. The Twins' fifth-ranked prospect (No. 84 on MLB.com's Top 100 Prospects list) was hitting .284 with six homers in 24 games with the Red Wings.

Hicks was injured in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader against the Nationals when he tried to beat out a soft grounder to third base in the top of the fifth inning. The rookie outfielder was thrown out by Ryan Zimmerman on the play and went back out to play center field in the bottom of the inning, but he was eventually forced to the bench by a rain delay and never returned.

"I felt it when I hit the bag," Hicks said. "I tried to play, and then the rain came down and I came back in, and I was told to ice up."
