Twins designate Walters

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have designated right-handed pitcher P.J. Walters for release or assignment.

To replace Walters on the 25-man roster, the Twins will return Mike Pelfrey from his rehab assignment and activate him from the 15-day disabled list. Pelfrey was placed on the disabled list on June 23 (retroactive to June 19) with a back strain. He made one rehab start on Monday, July 1 for Single-A Cedar Rapids, allowing two runs on two hits in 6.0 innings pitched.
