TORONTO -- Twins manager Ron Gardenhire is not ready to say that Ryan Doumit is Scott Diamond's personal catcher, but he acknowledges the two have worked well together.

Doumit got the start behind the plate against the Blue Jays on Sunday with Diamond on the mound. Joe Mauer was moved over to first base, with Justin Morneau serving as designated hitter.

Entering Sunday, Doumit had caught 10 of Diamond's starts with Diamond posting a 4.82 ERA, while Mauer caught just five of Diamond's starts with a 5.93 ERA. But over Diamond's career, both catchers' numbers are similar, with a 4.31 ERA in 18 starts with Doumit catching and a 4.33 ERA in 22 outings with Mauer.

"I've got all the paperwork detailing all that, and I think either one of my catchers works well with him," Gardenhire said. "I don't want to say it's a perfect match, but it's worked out a couple times, so we'll see. More than anything, Morneau was going to DH today, so I put Joe at first to keep him from bending and squatting. We also like Doumit behind the plate with his bat. And the matchup goes into play, too."
