Arcia returns after left wrist injury

HOUSTON -- Twins right fielder Oswaldo Arcia returned to the starting lineup on Tuesday, batting seventh. Arcia has played in just one game (on Aug. 24) since bruising his left wrist on Aug. 19 while diving for a fly ball.

Arcia entered the game hitting .254 with 10 homers, third most among American League rookies, and has driven in 32 in 77 games. He put together a career high nine-game hitting streak just prior to the injury.

"He told me he was able to play," manager Ron Gardenhire said prior to Tuesday's game. "We've waited and waited and waited [for his return]."

Gardenhire said that Arcia would be a no-go if he had issues during pregame batting practice.

"I was told [on Monday] that he was feeling great," Gardenhire said. "He's been telling me he's ready to go for three days -- ready to pinch-hit, ready to play."
