Twins unconditionally release Andrew Albers

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Twins announced today that left-handed pitcher Andrew Albers has cleared unconditional release waivers which will allow him to sign as a free-agent with the Hanwha Eagles of the Korea Baseball Organization. 

The 28-year-old Albers was named the Twins minor league Pitcher of the Year in 2013 after going 11-5 with a 2.86 ERA (132.1 IP, 42 ER), 116 strikeouts and just 32 walks at Triple-A Rochester. Additionally, Albers made 10 starts with the Twins in 2013, going 2-5 with a 4.05 ERA (60.0 IP, 27 ER). He pitched 8.1 scoreless innings in his major league debut on August 6 at Kansas City, becoming the first pitcher in Twins history to throw more than 7.0 scoreless innings in his major league debut. 

The Twins now have 39 players on their 40-man roster.
