Two Minnesota icons with Major League pedigrees -- Hall of Famer Dave Winfield and six-time All-Star Joe Mauer -- will team up for a good cause this summer. Winfield and Mauer will co-host the second annual Players Trust All-Star Golf Tournament, designed to raise funds for children's charities.

The event will take place at Windsong Farm Golf Club on July 16, the day after the All-Star Game is played at Target Field, and a host of former big leaguers are scheduled to attend. Hall of Famer Paul Molitor is expected to play, and so are former All-Stars like Bobby Bonilla and Steve Rogers.

"Co-hosting the Players Trust All Star Golf Tournament with Dave Winfield is an honor, and I look forward to working with Dave and other members of the baseball player fraternity to raise funds to support child-related causes," said Mauer as part of a press release. "I encourage our fellow Minnesotans to join us for what's sure to be a fun and memorable day at Windsong Farm Golf Club."

Last year, Ike Davis and David Robertson co-hosted an event at the Black Course in Bethpage, N.Y., to benefit victims of Superstorm Sandy. That was the first annual All-Star Golf Tournament, and the Players Trust has raised more than $1 million through other golf events over the years.

The Players Trust annually distributes more than $1.5 million in annual grants and programs, and it inspires countless students to volunteer in their communities through the Team Action program. Now, with some help from their All-Star friends, the Players Trust wants to give back to Minnesota.

"I'm thrilled to be coming home to the Twin Cities to celebrate the game of baseball, and to team with Joe Mauer in hosting the Players Trust's second annual All-Star Golf Tournament," Winfield said. "The Tournament is going to be the perfect way to wind down the week's festivities, as we gather for a great day of golf, storytelling and, of course, a chance to help improve the lives of children in need."
