SAN FRANCISCO -- Manager Bruce Bochy and the Giants successfully overturned an out call at first base on Hunter Pence's infield grounder in the first inning of San Francisco's 6-2 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Friday night.

With Angel Pagan on third, Pence grounded a ball to third baseman Trevor Plouffe, who checked on Pagan before firing to Joe Mauer. Crew chief Jerry Meals originally called Pence out on the play, but replays clearly showed Pence beating the throw.

"Angel did a great job on a couple of things that inning," Bochy said. "He deked like he was going home and that put pressure on the third baseman. He hesitated just a moment and that helped Hunter get a base hit."

A review of 33 seconds was needed to reverse the call, which was ruled a hit and extended Pence's hitting streak to 10 games. Later in the inning, Pablo Sandoval slugged a three-run homer to give the Giants a 3-0 lead.

Bochy has been successful in eight of his 12 challenges this year.
