Polanco was brought up from Class A Advanced Fort Myers Thursday, skipping both Double-A and Triple-A ball. It was the first time a Twins player has done that since 1982, and after pinch-hitting Thursday, he'll be available again Friday.
"I'm excited, it was a good moment," Polanco said of getting called up. "We all want to play in the big leagues as soon as possible, so I feel good about it."
Twins general manager Terry Ryan said Polanco can take advantage of learning what it means to be a big leaguer from the club's veterans.
"I think just seeing how we go about our business up here is a value in itself," Ryan said. "Whether or not he gets any extended playing time I suspect is dependent on the situation. He just got a little flavor yesterday."
