Pipeline Hitting Prospect of the Month: Kris Bryant, 3B, Iowa Cubs
(Cubs No. 2 prospect): 26 G, 34-for-96 (.354/.447/.781), 1.229 OPS, 11 HR, 27 RBIs, 24 R, 17 BB, 31 K, 1 SB
Bryant's placement as the hitting prospect of the month shouldn't come as a surprise to many. He was, after all, the POTM for May as well. The fact that he is repeating the honor while having earned a promotion up to Triple-A makes it all the more impressive.
After hitting .373/.476/.765 with five homers and 12 RBIs in 14 Double-A contests, the No. 2 pick in the 2013 First-Year Player Draft didn't take long to adjust to the Minors' highest level. ranked No. 8 on MLBPipeline.com's Top 100 Prospects list, hit .333/.412/.800 with six homers and 15 RBIs in 12 games with Iowa to close out the month.
Bryant, who left the Double-A Southern League as the Triple Crown leader, is now hitting a combined .349/.450/.712. His 28 homers are good for second in the Minor Leagues, as is his .712 slugging percentage, and he's tied for second with his 73 RBIs.

Pipeline Pitching Prospect of the Month: Jose Berrios, RHP, Fort Myers Miracle

First, Berrios learned he'd be going to what he hopes will be his future home, Target Field in Minneapolis, to pitch in the Futures Game. Now he's the Pipeline Pitching Prospect of the Month.
Berrios went at least six innings in each of his six June starts, never allowing more than two earned runs in any of them. His 53 strikeouts for the month led all Minor League pitchers. On two different occasions, Berrios allowed just one hit, both in seven-run outings. He started the month with such a performance, throwing shutout ball and striking out 13 without walking a batter. He tossed up seven zeros again June 17, allowing just the single hit, while walking two and whiffing nine.
Berrios is 8-3 with a 2.09 ERA. He's second in the Florida State League with 105 strikeouts (tied for fourth in all of the Minor Legaues) and tied for second with eight wins. His 2.09 ERA places him fourth in the Class A Advanced circuit. He's held hitters to a .214 batting average against.
