KANSAS CITY -- Outfielder Oswaldo Arcia rejoined the Twins on Wednesday after missing Tuesday's game due to the birth of his son, Oswell Daniel, who was born early Tuesday morning.

But Arcia wasn't in the lineup against left-hander Danny Duffy, as Sam Fuld got the start in left and Chris Parmelee got the nod in right field.

"He's a very happy papa but we wanted to give him time to regroup and gather himself here," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. "He's gone through a lot lately. Plus, it's a pretty tough lefty [Danny Duffy] out there."

Arcia said everything went fine with his wife, Karla, and the baby, which weighed in at more than 7 pounds. He said he was happy to be back.

"I saw the lineup and I wasn't in it but I'm ready," Arcia said.
